Half of this engine part, from a real South Wales job, has been cleaned with dry ice. The left side is still covered in oil and burnt-on dirt. The right side is clean bare metal, with nothing scratched or worn away.

What we clean

Tap a job to see what comes off, what stays, and how long it takes.

  1. 01

    Engine bays

Oil and road grime cleaned off the engine and everything around it. The paint stays as it was.

    Typically 2 to 4 hours
  2. 02

    Classic restoration

Old underbody coating and decades of dirt cleaned off, so you can see the bare metal before restoration starts.

    About a day
  3. 03

    Machinery and moulds

Factory machines cleaned where they stand. No taking them apart and no waiting for them to dry.

    Planned around you
  4. 04

    Fire and smoke damage

Soot and burn marks cleaned off wood, brick and steel, without adding water.

  5. 05

    Boats and marine

Weed, slime and old hull paint cleaned off the bottom of the boat, with nothing washed into the water.

    Priced from your photos
  6. 06

    Stone, brick and graffiti

Paint, graffiti and dirt cleaned off old stone and brick without wearing the surface away. We test a small patch first.

The dirt comes off. Everything else stays.

We clean engine bays, classics, machinery and buildings with dry ice. No water, no grit and no chemicals, so the paint, the metal and the markings underneath are left exactly as they were.

How it works, in three steps

300metres a second

It hits

Dry ice pellets, about the size of rice grains, are fired at the dirt at up to around 300 metres a second. Dry ice is softer than paint and metal, so it knocks the dirt off without cutting what is underneath.

−78.5°C

It cracks the dirt

The pellets are colder than any home freezer. The cold makes the dirt shrink and crack, so it lets go of the surface and comes away in flakes.

800times bigger

It turns to gas

Each pellet turns straight into gas and takes up about 800 times more space, which lifts the loosened dirt away. There is no water to dry and no grit to sweep up.

Why it costs more than a jet wash

Every method moves dirt. The difference is what is left behind afterwards, and what you have to deal with.

Dry ice blasting is loud and gives off carbon dioxide, so we wear hearing protection and ventilate enclosed spaces before we start.

Anyone can buy a dry ice machine

Four things that decide whether a job goes well, and none of them are the machine.

A unit, not just a van

Your parts do not have to be cleaned wherever there happens to be room. We have a workshop in Cwmcarn with space, light and no weather.

A fixed price, not an hourly rate

We price the job from photographs and a rough size, and that is what you pay whether it takes three hours or five. If we have underestimated it, that is ours to absorb.

We will tell you if it is the wrong tool

Dry ice cannot shift rust that has bonded into steel. If your job needs abrasive blasting, you will hear that from us before you spend anything.

Back in use the same day

In almost every case the car, the part or the machine is back in use the day we finish.

Bring it to us, or we come to you

Most jobs come to our unit in Cwmcarn. Anything that cannot be moved we clean on site: the van carries its own compressor and dry ice.
